Effects of DMSO (Dimethyl sulfoxide) free cryopreservation with program freezing using a magnetic field on periodontal ligament cells and dental pulp tissues

چکیده
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of short-term cryopreservation on the root of an incomplete human tooth with periodontal ligament cells (PDL) and dental pulp tissues. Extracted teeth were cryopreserved for three months using a programmed freezer combined with a magnetic field, known as Cells Alive System “CAS”. PDL regeneration and appropriate apexogenesis after transplanting a magnetically cryopreserved immature tooth were clinically confirmed. These findings demonstrate that teeth banking with the use of a magnetic field programmed freezer can be available for future autotransplantation as a treatment modality for replacing missing teeth. Results indicate that short-term cryopreservation with the use of a CAS freezer does not affect the rate of recovery or characteristics of PDL cells.

Does Cryopreservation Affect the Biological Properties of Stem Cells from Dental Tissues? A Systematic Review.
This systematic review evaluated if different cryopreservation protocols could affect biological properties (Cell survival rate (CSR), proliferation, differentiation, maintenance of stem cell markers) of stem cells obtained from dental tissues (DSC) post-thaw. An electronic search was carried out within PubMed and ISI Web Science by using specific keyword. Two independent reviewers read the tit...
متن کاملA Simple and Highly Effective Method for Slow-Freezing Human Pluripotent Stem Cells Using Dimethyl Sulfoxide, Hydroxyethyl Starch and Ethylene Glycol
Vitrification and slow-freezing methods have been used for the cryopreservation of human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs). Vitrification requires considerable skill and post-thaw recovery is low. Furthermore, it is not suitable for cryopreservation of large numbers of hPSCs. While slow-freezing methods for hPSCs are easy to perform, they are usually preceded by a complicated cell dissociation pro...

The effects of cryopreservation on mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) phenotype are not well documented; however this process is of increasing importance for regenerative therapies. This study examined the effect of cryopreservation (10% dimethyl-sulfoxide) on the morphology, viability, gene-expression and relative proportion of MSC surface-markers on cells derived from rat adipose, bone marrow and de...

Conventional methods for the propagation and preservation of parasites in vivo or in vitro have limitations, which include the need for labor, the initial isolation and loss of strains, bacterial and fungal contamination, and changes in the original biological and metabolic characteristics of the organism. All of these disadvantages are reduced considerably by cryopreservation. In this study, w...
متن کاملTooth Regeneration with Stem Cell Sources
Introduction: During the last decade, advances in tissue engineering and stem cell-based tooth regeneration have provided realistic and attractive means of replacing lost or damaged teeth. The first adult stem cells isolated from dental tissues were dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs). When transplanted with hydroxyl apatite/tri calcium phosphate (HA/TCP) powder, they formed a dentin-like structure...
